Navigation & Positioning System

Navigation & Positioning System

The Navigation & Positioning system maintains awareness of where you are in relation to your plan. When it is functioning, movement is deliberate and controlled. When it weakens, uncertainty builds before it is recognised, and small positional errors begin to compound.

Navigation failure is rarely a single mistake. It develops through missed confirmation, misread terrain, and delayed response to uncertainty. By the time a group realises they are off route, the system has often been degrading for some time, and recovery is more complex than it should be.

In this system, you will learn how navigation actually fails in the field, how early signals present, and how decision timing determines whether errors remain minor or become incidents.
